This year we took a leap. We left the private school that M has been attending for three years (all with the same teacher) and moved her to public school. We were originally planning on the neighborhood school, but she won (lottery) a place in a magnet Montessori School. She started this past week and the transition has gone very smoothly so far. It varies from private school in many ways, but so far so good. Her younger sister will start in the prek-3 program in another two weeks. She seems very excited already about the reading they are doing (including a reading challenge – perfect for this competitive gal) and she’s been doing math in the car. I think she’ll be just fine!
