THE HISTORY OF LOVE

Just finished reading a great book for book club called the History of Love – I highly recommend it.

Up next . . . Flux.

And the myspace thought of the day from Nikki:

“You have to take it as it happens but you should try to make it happen the way you want to take it.”

HONEYMOON IN MEXICO

After the wedding, we drove to Miami and flew to Mexico for a fabulous 10 day honeymoon. We stayed at the Aventura Spa Palace, an all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya. We visited 3 different locations to see ancient Mayan ruins – Coba, Talum & Chichen Itza.

WEDDING 2.16.08

I can’t believe last time I blogged, Ryan and I weren’t even engaged! After 12 years together, we finally tied the knot. We were married on 2.16.08 at the Baughman Center at the University of Florida. The reception was held at the Sweetwater Branch Inn. Thanks to everyone who participated and attended. It was so much fun and we enjoyed every minute of it.

PERSPECTIVE

I got into my first car accident on Sunday. It wasn’t too bad. Someone pulled out in front of me and I hit her. She had a stop sign and I didn’t. I still feel really guilty. I don’t know why.

Also, our hot water heater died on Sunday. We got a new one yesterday and now we are $1,000 poorer!

But you have to look at things with a positive attitude. At least no one was hurt in the accident. At least my car was not damaged too badly. At least the water heater just stopped working, instead of leaking.

I will feel much better once her insurance company assumes liability. They are still reveiwing the police report, which says in plain english that driver #2 (her) was at fault. I got a cute rental car too. It’s a PT Cruiser. I kinda wanna keep it! It only gets 15 miles per gallon though! But I’ll enjoy the new car while I have it, and then I’ll stick to my plan of buying myself a hybrid for my 30th birthday, assuming that I am not living out of a cardboard box.

DRIVING SLOW ON SATURDAY MORNING

Skipped the gym @ 7am as I had tentatively planned in my mind. Also skipped our plan of doing yard work towards creating my garden space, but that was kindof a lofty goal in my mind too. We got up about 9am and made waffles with blueberries. It’s sunny out today and about 30-something degrees out, so we’re going to head up Case Mountain for a short hike. It snowed Thursday night and into Friday, but it’s all melted now. We’ve got to take advantage of the fact that there’s no snow on the ground and get outside while we still can. It’s a windy day, so it will be cold at the top, but it will be a great view as always! Ryan’s got an orchestra rehearsal and performance today, so I will probably try to get some stuff around the house done, and get going on my book club book, maybe drink some tea and relax as well. It’s looking like it will be a good day. I’m also getting really psyched for my trip to NYC to see Sharon & Sarmad and go to Saturday Night Live. I feel like the next two weeks are going to be really fun. Although Ryan will be away a lot, in Athens, GA and in Hilton Head, SC – but he’ll be having fun too! I like looking forward to the future, but I also need to live a little more in the present. Hiking really helps me to feel in the moment.

SO SAD

Staying late at work to clean out emails, just to avoid the gym. So sad.

GROWING UP

I don’t like being grown up. I don’t like having 10 vacation days a year. It’s not fun.

NEW TO BLOGGING

I used to keep a journal when I was younger. Most of it wasn’t anything I would ever want anyone to read. In fact, I had a deal with my best friends that should I die suddenly, they were to go to my house and destroy my journals immediately. I wouldn’t want my mom to find out bad things about me after I had died. I’d want her to think I was a little angel. They have all been removed from my parents house, and currently live in the attic of the house I own. Wow, I am a stinkin’ grown up.
