So Big?

Lately we’ve been marveling at how big M is getting.  We were up in the attic today putting away the Halloween decorations and decided it might be just about time to get out the exersauser thingie dingie that Joe & Patti gave us.  As you can see below, we were wrong and it will be going back up in the attic for a couple more months.

M’s First Halloween

On the eve of Halloween, she slept all night (from 7:30pm – 5am)!  We went to see Daddy play bass at the Day of the Dead celebration at church, carved our pumpkin and handed out candy.

And here was the inspiration for Ryan’s costume:

Yoga Baby

Miss M and I have been enjoying weekly Mom & Baby Yoga since she was about 7 weeks old.  It was great in the beginning but it gets better every week, as she becomes more and more aware of what’s going on around her and smiles more and more.  This week she fell asleep just in time for savasana.

3 Months Old

Can’t believe my little girl is three months old.  Can’t believe I birthed a babe three months ago.

Today was the first day she was home with Daddy all day since I’ve been back at work and they both did great!

M’s Nickname Board

I know someday we’ll have to erase this, and I don’t ever want to forget it.

Starting the day we brought her home, R wrote down each of the nicknames we called her.  When I first saw it, I melted.  It makes me smile every single day.

Margeaux Mushroom, Miss Crabby Pants, Monkey, Stinky Britches, Margeaux Pie, Munchkin, Howler Monkey, Squirmy Wormy, Milky Cabrera, Hazelnut, Ruffle Butt, and there have been so many more.  I can’t believe I have a 3 month old.

M’s Tibetan Chair

On Friday, Ryan and I went on our first date since M was born.  We went out to breakfast and then browsed a beautiful store with Tibetan goods.  In one room there were a bunch of small wooden chairs.  We picked this one out for M.  We hope she’ll have it for a long, long time and come to know it as the present her parents picked out for her when they were on their first date since her birth and couldn’t stop talking about her.

Visit from NH

We enjoyed a quick but wonderful visit from my cousin and his daughter last weekend.  She really loved M’s new playmat – and quickly figured out how to make it three dimensional.

They brought M a lovely pair of cozy shoes.

Anticipation

Hopefully the anxiety and anticipation I have about going back to work is worse than the actual going back, but somehow I doubt it.  I’m having a really hard time seeing how a morning routine is going to work.  What are the chances I am going to get in a shower every morning?  Does my husband realize how much more my going back to work is going to put on his plate?  Will my dog become clinically depressed now that I am not there to follow around all day? How in the world am I going to interact with mutliple adults for 9 hours a day? In a row?  How is Margeaux going to do at daycare for 10 hours a day, even if it is only 2 days a week?  And stop telling me it’s only 2 days a week, because in a matter of weeks it’s going to be 4 or 5 days a week!  (Although I know I am SO LUCKY to only be going back 3 days a week until the end of the year.)  How will I have enough energy for work and still have some left over for my girl?  And my goodness, after I’ve used up my energy on my co-workers, my daughter, getting ready for the next day, how does that leave anytime for my husband? And for myself!?!?  I’m sorry bookclub, I may never read again.  I know I’ll figure it all out, I know I’ll fall into a routine.  I’ll get faster at making bottles, packing lunches, I won’t care if I haven’t taken a shower, but it’s still hard to imagine what life is going to be like with one more thing on my plate, and it’s a big thing. I’ve done a lot to prepare myself and my little family. I’ve made and frozen a bunch of food.  We have a checklist for everything we need to do at night for the next day.  I’m going to pick out clothes for the week, and just PUT THAT ON in the morning, no fooling around with what to wear!  I have enough non-pershable food packed to feed myself for 2 weeks.  We’ll survive. But I just hope I’ll remember to enjoy life in the process, and to enjoy every little moment with my little girl.  Oh, and to not be a mega-bitch to my co-workers, I’d like to remember that too.  4:01am, 2nd feeding of the night over, goodnight.

Thank you to Great Great Aunt Jackie for the beautiful blanket and hat!

I couldn’t decide which photo I liked the best, so I am posting them all.
