We got a few inches of snow overnight and it was still snowing when we got up this morning. R’s school was cancelled for the day, he was keeping M home and wasn’t too keen on me driving in the snow at 37 weeks pregnant, so we all took a snow day! With a baby #2 coming in about 21 days (or so) and my dad arriving in a little over a week to be on baby watch with us, our days as a three person family are numbered. While I feel guilt over missing work (why, why, why?!) I’m still able to enjoy the day. I think it’s more anxiety about running out of paid days off. Not counting my 4.5 weeks of short term disability, I’ll be using 2 weeks of maternity leave and 1 week of vacation, leaving myself 3 days of vacation for the 2+ months I’ll have before the year renews after I come back from my 12 weeks of maternity leave. Oh well, I can take unpaid days – I shouldn’t concern myself with it now! Anyhow, it’s been a great day! M and R slept until after 8am while I did some work from home. We had homemade pancakes for breakfast. M painted a beautiful canvas from something I saw on Pinterest for her new baby sister or brother. The only catch is, we had to choose which name to use and went with the girl name. If it’s a boy, we’ll just have to do it again! I’ll post the full pictures after the new baby is born – we’re not sharing the name until then. After painting, M and R enjoyed some shoveling and snow play with Izzie while I sipped homemade hot chocolate from the couch. R even played some ukelele while M danced with her new monkey (we got a box of goodies in the mail today from Aunt Zelma and Uncle Steve). What a great day!
PS – Sunday we did a potty training day and had only one pee accident (the poop happened in the diaper during nap time). Monday evening was another successful night of underwear and even a poopy on the potty. Tuesday we were just too busy to try underwear. Today has been great so far with several pees and no accidents! We’re not pushing it, but she can’t become potty trained if I’m too lazy to even sit her on the toilet!
