A Little Perspective

Margeaux at almost 10 weeks old.

Wow.  It is C-R-A-Z-Y to think what we’ve come through in the last two months to get us where we are now.  Tonight we speak at our birthing class reunion. Being pregnant feels like a million years ago.  The friends who were two months behind us in this adventure are home from the hospital.  I hear about the things they are going through, and it seems like such a long time ago that those were our problems  – breastfeeding, baby not knowing night from day.  When I talk to them, I feel like such a seasoned parent. I say the things that everyone else said to us – hang in there, it WILL get better.  I could not even imagine it getting better, it felt like I would never sleep again.  For now, we’ve got this thing down (I bet I just jinxed us!).  I know I am about to go back to work in a few weeks, and that’s going to throw us off for a little while, but it finally feels more manageable.  Well, I guess it has for a while.  The work aspect is starting to concern and worry me a bit, but I’ll save that talk for another day.

Yesterday, while having some tummy time on the floor with her buddy Nolan, Margeaux rolled over from her tummy to her back!  We set her back on her tummy, and she did it again!  What a big girl!

i know what you mean, it still seems crazy to me how big AJ is and now Ryan will be a year in less than two weeks! But you certainly never forget those first few months (or any of it really) and when a new parent is at wits end it’s hard to relate to them that you completely understand and that it will get better and in a way you will miss those early days, just like you miss your baby belly. I knew you and Ryan would be great parents and am so happy for you both, parenting is wonderful (though stressful) and truly one of the best things you will ever do. Miss you!
